About Us
Bridging the gap between business and law
The Queen’s Commerce Law Association (QCLA) is Queen’s premier law association that provides students with unique opportunities to explore their interests within the world of law and explore the connection between law and business. QCLA holds a variety of events that focus on the industry and education element of the legal world, whether it’s law school information nights with premier Canadian and American law schools or speaker panels with industry experts, QCLA offers opportunities for those who are interested in law to learn how to achieve those goals from professionals in the field.
To allow for students to gain practical legal experience and have some fun, QCLA hosts an annual Intercollegiate Mock Trial, simulating what a real trial could be like. At this mock trial, students are able to hear from and learn from practicing lawyers who are acting as judges, providing a truly unique learning experience that cannot be attained anywhere else!
QCLA’s keynote events are its New York and Toronto trips. On these trips, delegates will be able to meet, network, and learn from lawyers at some of the biggest law firms in the world. They will also be able to visit premier law schools such as The University of Toronto. In addition to visiting law firms and schools, delegates are given ample free time to explore and discover these two great cities!
Our Story
QCLA was founded in 2011 to address a growing need for exposure to the legal industry for students in the Commerce program. Every year since, the association has grown both in terms of students involved and the calibre of our events.
We are so excited to be kicking off the 2024-2025 school year and look forward to engaging with students across various faculties and legal professional across the industry.
